Tooth Alignment Issues - Comparing Two Solutions

A crooked smile is hardly beautiful, but that's not all. If you have teeth that are not in their proper positions, they can be a challenge to care for. And there are other potential problems as well, such as bone tissue loss, periodontal disease, and worst of all, edentulism (tooth loss).

We all know that braces are the answer to misaligned teeth, but the problem is traditional metal braces are not only unpretty and uncomfortable. They also hurt. And if you're no longer a child, wearing those metal chunks on your teeth can be so embarrassing. These are just some of the reasons clear braces have become very popular these days.

First of all, clear braces are a whole lot nicer to look at. Metal braces are so noticeable, not to mention they leave food bits stuck in between them, with or without the wearer knowing. On the other hand, clear braces can go unnoticed most of the time, and the best thing is you'd almost never feel that you're wearing them. They're also very convenient because you can remove them whenever you want to, unlike metal braces which only your dentist northbrook can remove after the entire length of your treatment.

Aside from looking better, clear braces are also less risky in terms of tooth or gum problems. Metal braces have wires that can cut or scrape the soft and delicate oral mucous membranes. Clear braces are just all smooth and not bothersome at all.

Moreover, metal braces can actually lead to tooth decay or demineralization (removal of minerals from the teeth). And they even have to exert a pulling or pushing force in order to work. When you use clear braces, you don't have to deal with all of these hassles

Another thing that makes clear braces preferable is that treatment can be way shorter compared to metal braces. In fact, the maximum for clear braces is usually a year and a half.

In addition, dentists create their plans for clear brace treatment on the computer, providing patients a clearer and more accurate perspective of what's going to happen during treatment, how long it will take, and so on. Conversely, metal braces are kind of hit or miss, with the dentist northbrook or the patient having no exact idea of what's in store with each step of the treatment.

In other words, clear braces do provide a number of advantages over metal braces, although they cost a little bit higher. Nevertheless, both the results and the entire experience are going to be worthwhile.

What's important is that you choose a reliable dentist. Then you can get rid of your tooth positioning problems. Keep in mind though that braces, whether clear or metal, are not for all people. So don't get too excited until you have actually talked to your dentist, and he has found you to be a good candidate.
